I, unfortunately, was not born with a lot of patience. I guess I was skipped over when that was being doled out. For others who also hate to wait, you know this fact of life can be a curse or a blessing. It certainly helps me stay proactive and get things done but..... for a plant and nature lover.... ugh. Can you hurry up and grow already!!!
Seeing and planting all these baby trees makes my heart happy. And then I remember how many years - YES, YEARS - I'll have to wait to see them mature. It's a cruel trick this universe has played on me but I know it's for the best. Keeping our campground beautiful doesn't just require regular maintenance and lawn mowing. We have to plan (plant) for the future. Trees don't live forever so we must keep planting. Each year a few more will add to the long-term beauty of Happy Acres.
It's been awhile since any new trees have been planted at the campground so this year we (I) may have gone overboard. What?! We needed to catch up! So, here's the line up:
48 White and Norway Spruce
6 Canadian Hemlock
6 Red Sunset Maples
4 October Glory Maples
2 Green Mountain Maples
2 Flowering Pear
4 Blue Muffin Viburnum
9 Kodiak Orange Diervilla
11 Spilled Wine Weigela
4 Lilacs
6 Limelights
11 Blue Kazoo Spirea
7 Arctic Fire Dogwoods
4 River Birch
1 Tricolor Beech
1 Ginko
3 Endless Summer Hydrangea
2 Heuchera Obsidian
.........Thats a lot! They'll be waiting for you next spring.
